About the Role: The Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Business group is seeking a highly self-motivated Application Engineer who enjoys working directly with customers to solve their toughest microwave cabling challenges. In this role, you will provide application support for both microwave cable and cable assembly solutions to enable sales growth at existing and new customers. You will partner with the sales team and product managers to demonstrate the technical benefits and value of Gore products to our customers. The ideal candidate for this role would be energized by the A&D industry and be passionate about customer applications and customer experience. This position will be located in Newark, Delaware, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs. Relocation assistance may be offered for this role. Ensure the elements of fitness-for-use (FFU) are validated along the global value chain for existing products manufactured and developed in USA and United Kingdom
Represent the application requirements in manufacturing qualification, validation, and change control activities while influencing and integrating with a cross functional team
Manage customer expectations based on product performance and internal capabilities while effectively working with customers to align on true application needs
Identify new opportunities and driving derivative product commercialization within existing product concepts in alignment with product specialist and technical team
Provide FFU input and customer feedback to the new product development (NPD) process
Understand and develop application requirements based on customer and end user needs while recognizing industry trends vs custom designs
Verify and validate product design/construction based on the integration and use of the product
Support the complexities of the sales process and collaborate with the global market facing team to continually improve the value that our products and services deliver to customers in the applicationRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science (Electrical Engineering preferred)
Minimum 3 years experience in a technical or applications engineer role
Familiarity with elements of RF/Microwave technology and microwave cable assembly specifications
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external customers
Proven results focus, taking initiative, driving change, getting things done
Self-directed and self-motivated to work at a demanding environment
Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of prioritizing and problem solving as well as demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to travel up to 50% (mainly within US) and leverage virtual teaming
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with RF cabling, connectors, or systems in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryEstablished network and involvement in Aerospace and Defense RF cabling communities with familiarity of requirements for key OEM'sProven track record in project management and product commercialization This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information.
