19th.Calling all Senior Nursing Students, Nurse Graduates and new
RN's, it is time to apply for our Emergency Department Nurse
Residency Program starting Spring 2025!The ChristianaCare Nurse
Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice
Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's
Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.
ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is recognized by the ANCC
Practice Transition Accreditation ProgramĀ® (PTAP) as an
Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAP).We know through
empirical research, graduate nurses who go through a residency
program have a higher success rate in practice. Therefore, we are
committed to supporting all nurses with under a year of experience
through a nurse residency program!This unique 26-week program is a
combination of classroom and clinical experiences. Participants
will work under the supervision of experienced emergency nurses for
the length of the program. Upon program completion, the participant
will be hired as a staff member in one of our 3 Emergency
Departments within ChristianaCare. This program has been devised by
the nurses in the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital. This
program allows for a smooth transition from GN to the ED staff RN
role into ED nursing, for those candidates qualified. The 26-week
preceptor led program will be followed by continued residency
meetings during months 8, 10, and 12 to further develop as
professional nurses and integral members of our caregiver team.
ChristianaCare has 3 Emergency Departments:
- ChristianaCare Newark Campus,
- ChristianaCare Wilmington Campus
- Middletown Emergency Department Christiana Care Newark Campus
is the only Level 1 Adult Trauma Center between Philadelphia and
Baltimore. ChristianaCare Wilmington Campus is a Level 3 Adult
Trauma Center. Middletown Emergency Department is a freestanding
ED. Our Emergency Departments see approximately 195,000 patients
annually, servicing an average of 500 patients per day in combined
visits from all 3 departments. There are 162 patient rooms,
including state-of-the-art trauma resuscitation facilities between
the 3 departments.Upon successful program completion, you will be
hired as a staff nurse in one of the 3 Emergency Departments within
ChristianaCare. Nurse residents are required to pass State Boards
and be licensed as a RN in the State of Delaware prior to starting
position. Nurse residents are required to pass State Boards and be

to starting position. Upon hire, a commitment agreement to work at
the ChristianaCare will be signed. The agreement requires
completion of two years within ChristianaCare and 15 months of
those two years on the unit of hire. Individuals unable to fill
this commitment will be charged $10,000.Requirements:
- Graduating from accredited nursing school before March 2025
(BSN Preferred)
- BLS required
- Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the
program
- Eligible for Delaware licensure as a Graduate Nurse/Registered

time of the application. If it is determined the minimum
qualifications are met, a separate email will be sent from an

instructors' information.What to Expect After Application and
Timeline:
- Communication from Talent Acquisition Team about specific next
steps including: video interview and clinical references completed
through third party vendors HireVue and SkillSurvey
(respectively).
- Applications to be sent for review by residency coordinators on
August 29th. The required tasks (SkillSurvey and HireVue) must be
completed BEFORE August 29th in order to be considered.
- Digital real-time interviews will begin end of September and
run until mid-October.
- Offers to be made in mid-October.
